Tutoring

HOMEWORK CLUB

tutoring-boxOn Tuesday and Thursday afternoons ESYAC picks up children from their residences and/or their schools and takes them to Redding First Church for Homework Club from 3 to 5 p.m. during the school year. We begin with a full hot meal together followed by Circle Time. During this time we read a Bible story, memorize scripture and talk about issues pertinent to the children’s daily lives: drugs, domestic violence, bullying, etc.

Following Circle Time we move to one-on-one tutoring where we help the children with homework, specific skills suggested by their classroom teachers, and practice reading for understanding with the student . Each day closes with a recreation time: sports, games, music, drama, art, or crafts.

We are always in need of volunteer drivers and tutors. Please consider joining the fun and excitement of working as part of a team with these amazing kids.
